Inspiration overload

Sometimes I think I should just give myself only 1 minute to browse through my journal inspiration board, and then make myself get off the computer and go DO something with the ideas I just got (I often think this, but rarely do it :P) So many times I have a great idea, but I get distracted looking at something else and forget what I had wanted to try. (My hubby says I have A.D.D like a squirrel on coffee…lol)  Like “I love how that looks like bubbles..wouldn’t it be cool to have bubbles coming off of some letters?” and then “ooo colored ink splotches and drips, I want to try that!” and then  something else, and something else, until I’m like “what was I going to do….?” Inspiration overload.

So today I tried to follow my plan, quick browse through blogs and only a couple minutes on pinterest. I also re-watched one of the class videos from the Strathmore online workshops (free to enroll, you can check it out here*Edit The Strathmore classes change each year and the one with Tracie is no longer available.) with Traci Bautista, then got started! Paint and stencils were every where, spray bottles and paint brushes flying!. Then while some of the pages where drying I checked my email, and saw St. John Studios had a new post about using ephemera. *smack myself in the forehead* Knew I forgot something. Skipped the paper bits and went straight to painting. Oh well. I may need to make myself a check list before I start next time.

Using my hand carved stamps too, so much fun!!

Haven’t gotten to work on page 2 much yet, other than some ink and paint. Hopefully I will get a chance to work on it tomorrow, although its shaping up to be a busy day.

The extra paint and ink I had left over from the papers went into my art journal, covering up a page I hated. It’s an improvement! Still needs a lot of work tho. Maybe a color wash, or just some gesso? Hmm…

Also made homemade pizza for dinner, so good!

I hope everyone had a great creative day! Thanks for stopping in!

About kittyisnotamused

I am an eclectic crafter whose hobbies currently include knitting, crochet, making journals, cooking, and quilting, although I have also been addicted to jewelry making, scrapbooking, sewing, and many others. My passion for creating runs a wide gamut and jumps back and forth from new hobbies to old often. I live with my hubby and our 3 pets: 1 grown puppy with the attention span of a goldfish, and 2 lazy chubby kitties. Kitties who, despite my best efforts to gain their enthusiasm, show no interest in what I'm working on except to lay on whatever it is occasionally. The hubby's reactions are better, which is why he gets many handmade items and the kitties only a few, but his reactions are usually confused smiles and nods with "thats great sweety!" The dog shows the most enthusiasm but mostly that translates into her trying to snot and eat whatever I am showing to her... I suppose thats just life tho :) Thanks for stopping in, feel free to leave a comment!

  1. I love your post, even before I got down to your mention of the ephemera post, lol.
You and I are so much alike, I totally get into looking through things, clicking on links, and so forth, and forgetting what great idea I had three clicks ago!
You should keep a list, hahaha. I’m funny, right?
And great pic of the homemade pizza, we call those pics “Food Porn Money Shots” in our house. Beautiful pizza, I’ll bet it was super yummy!
