Painting and Spinning

Normally I think the days go by fast and I’m lucky if I get everything done in one day that I plan to. Today however, the day seemed to go by fairly slowly. After cleaning the house and doing some dishes, I had some time free for crafty/creative stuff πŸ™‚ So I worked on some more journal pages, started pages for a new mini book, and did some yarn spinning. Not a bad day πŸ˜‰

First, the journal page I finished today:

I found this picture of our dog today from when she was a puppy, and thought it went well with the colors on the page. Then I had fun looking through all my extra paper bits and pieces for things to add to the page. I finished it off with some small details with a micron pen and a bit more paint. I may still add something on the twill tape tho, it looks a little bare….

Some more pages in progress:

I also worked on pages for a new mini book inspired by this mini album tutorial by Celine Navarro. I picked up an old sewing pattern at the thrift store the other day for $1 and sewed multiple sheets together to make strong pages. Then today I used some stencils and paint to add some color. I still haven’t decided what I want to use for the cover, Celine used corrugated cardboard which I love, but don’t have. I do have some fabrics that would go well with the colors on the pages, or I might use chipboard.

There are 2 signatures, 3 pages each, for a total of 24 sides front and back. I’m thinking of using this mini book for a simple photo album, or for favorite quotes. After, of course, I figure out what kind of cover I want to use πŸ˜‰

In between pages I also spun some singles for yarn today, working with some merino wool and a simple spindle.

Had some curious kitty help for a bit too, it seems that anything spinning and near the floor is fair game for some investigation. But I was able to distract him with some scrap yarn and soon after he fell asleep, so I could spin without worrying about clunking him in the head with the spindle.

Thanks for stopping by!

About kittyisnotamused

I am an eclectic crafter whose hobbies currently include knitting, crochet, making journals, cooking, and quilting, although I have also been addicted to jewelry making, scrapbooking, sewing, and many others. My passion for creating runs a wide gamut and jumps back and forth from new hobbies to old often. I live with my hubby and our 3 pets: 1 grown puppy with the attention span of a goldfish, and 2 lazy chubby kitties. Kitties who, despite my best efforts to gain their enthusiasm, show no interest in what I'm working on except to lay on whatever it is occasionally. The hubby's reactions are better, which is why he gets many handmade items and the kitties only a few, but his reactions are usually confused smiles and nods with "thats great sweety!" The dog shows the most enthusiasm but mostly that translates into her trying to snot and eat whatever I am showing to her... I suppose thats just life tho :) Thanks for stopping in, feel free to leave a comment!
