Progress report

I have been working on the painting I started a few days ago, inspired by this book, little by little.Β  I am still loving the book and the process! Not sure I am loving the painting itself, but I am loving parts of it. Here’s the before, and the most recent pics of it:

before

now (kind of explodes at you now doesn’t it?)

It is a bit too busy for me, I think there will be some covering up going on shortly. But I am having fun with the randomness and freedom to add without concern. I keep painting a little bit on this one, then walking away and working on other things, before coming back and adding a bit more. Some detail shots (and by “some” I mean many πŸ˜› ):

And I have been working on the second painting I started at the same time as this one, but it has not improved 😦

The Before

The now.

I used painters tape and made a criss-cross pattern over the painting, painted some more (still hated it), added some drips running down it (hated it more, which is surprising, drips usually make me happy), added some feathers in ink, covered up the majority of the stencils and patterns with more paint, and I. still. hate. it. You cant win them all, and I will still paint over it until it gets better, but it is not one I look forward to working on or have any plan for.

Started some new paintings as well:

Both are only in the beginning stages, but I think they will be a lot of fun to work on!

So far all of my paintings have been on mixed media paper, because it was what I had on hand. Recently my hubby and I were in the local A.C. Moore’s, found some canvases on sale, and bought 2! I can’t wait to use them! My only problem is I’m not sure what I want to put on them! I think I want to have more practice before I try painting on them, but it might be better to just put some paint on them and get over it, I can’t decide!!! I’m pretty sure my excitement will soon out weigh my patience tho, and paint will be applied regardless of my plan πŸ™‚ If you have any tips about painting on canvas I would love to hear them!

Thanks so much for stopping in and checking out my paintings! (and listening to my ramblings! lol) Have a great day!

About kittyisnotamused

I am an eclectic crafter whose hobbies currently include knitting, crochet, making journals, cooking, and quilting, although I have also been addicted to jewelry making, scrapbooking, sewing, and many others. My passion for creating runs a wide gamut and jumps back and forth from new hobbies to old often. I live with my hubby and our 3 pets: 1 grown puppy with the attention span of a goldfish, and 2 lazy chubby kitties. Kitties who, despite my best efforts to gain their enthusiasm, show no interest in what I'm working on except to lay on whatever it is occasionally. The hubby's reactions are better, which is why he gets many handmade items and the kitties only a few, but his reactions are usually confused smiles and nods with "thats great sweety!" The dog shows the most enthusiasm but mostly that translates into her trying to snot and eat whatever I am showing to her... I suppose thats just life tho :) Thanks for stopping in, feel free to leave a comment!
