This spread started out as a rather ugly page. It had some magazine images glued down, painted over, and doodled on, but I hated it. (if you have been stopping by often you will begin to see a pattern, I’m down with covering up pages I hate to make room for ones I love. 🙂 If you are new to my blog, welcome!, and now you know! ;P) I’ve had some blank mixed media papers on my desk for a while, to use as color testers, brush blotters, ink remains remover, and so on, and today I decided to cut them up and put them in my journal! The papers had that cool, unintentionally-chaotic-mess-but-looks-awesome thing that happens when you aren’t trying (and that you can’t get when you really want to lol). So into the journal they went, covering up a spread I hated with one that I loved instantly. I heart when that happens!! I added some bits and pieces from my scrap paper box along with some decorative tape down the seam to hold it all together and strengthen the spine. I also used my recently carved hexagon stamp with StazOn ink to add some more black to the pages. A few letter stickers, some that spell “Go and be yourself” on the left, and others just tumbling down the top of the right page, and its done!
I am in love with the honeycomb/hexagon shapes that are everywhere right now and I finally had to make my own. I was going to make a bunch of honeycomb (if that makes sense) originally but eventually opted for a single hexagon that I can use to make any honeycomb shape I want! Its not perfect but I think that adds to its charm 🙂
A before and after of a page made with a new stencil I bought:
And an older page that finally got some details and letters:
Thanks for stopping by!!
