The finished birthday card

So I finished the Birthday card I was making, and it is on its way to the intended recipient! But I did remember to take some pics first, before it made its way into the envelope and out to the post office 🙂

I used a piece of 140lb watercolor paper for the base, one side colored randomly from cleaning off my brayer while gelli printing. On the outside, I affixed a gelli print that I liked, added a birthday banner in a contrasting colored gelli print, and added some washi tapes. For the inside, I was going to use the orange I used for the banner, but didn’t like the way it looked with the mixed colors that were already there. So I picked another, more mellow gelli print and wrote out the birthday wishes with a Faber-Castell Pitt brush pen. I went back over it with a silver gell pen so it stood out more and was easier to read, then added some doodles down the sides with more Pitt pens.

Names have been blurred/removed to protect the identities of those not involved in the crafty chaos, hehehe 🙂

While I was taking pictures of the card, I was messing with different white balance options on my camera to get good lighting in the images. Waffles came over to see what was going on and so I took a few pictures of her too. She was a bit freaked out at all the pictures, and you can see it in her face 😀 I love the last pic, just cracks me up!

What are you doing! What is going on!“What is going on!?!?! Please stop! This is my very serious puppy face….” Such a funny puppers 🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

About kittyisnotamused

I am an eclectic crafter whose hobbies currently include knitting, crochet, making journals, cooking, and quilting, although I have also been addicted to jewelry making, scrapbooking, sewing, and many others. My passion for creating runs a wide gamut and jumps back and forth from new hobbies to old often. I live with my hubby and our 3 pets: 1 grown puppy with the attention span of a goldfish, and 2 lazy chubby kitties. Kitties who, despite my best efforts to gain their enthusiasm, show no interest in what I'm working on except to lay on whatever it is occasionally. The hubby's reactions are better, which is why he gets many handmade items and the kitties only a few, but his reactions are usually confused smiles and nods with "thats great sweety!" The dog shows the most enthusiasm but mostly that translates into her trying to snot and eat whatever I am showing to her... I suppose thats just life tho :) Thanks for stopping in, feel free to leave a comment!

  1. Thanks for sharing. I should remember to make cards more often–so much more inexpensive than buying one at the store and the recipient gets an awesome, made with love card like yours!

    • I try to make cards for almost every occasion, with the exception of Christmas. That would just be too many cards to try and make by hand 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words!
